What is listing management?

Listing management is keeping a business's name, address, phone number, hours and category correct and identical everywhere they appear online. It covers the major directories and maps, the sites specific to a trade, and anywhere else a listing was created once and then forgotten.

The failure this prevents is mundane and expensive: someone drives to a shop that closed an hour ago because one directory still carries last year's hours. Nobody complains about it, they just do not come back.

Duplicates are the harder half. A single business can accumulate several listings over the years, from an old address, a former name, or an automated import. Each one splits reviews and confuses the record.
